This course explores the intersection of mental health and the correctional system, examining the challenges, policies, and practices involved in managing and treating mental illness in jails and community correctional settings. Trainees will gain knowledge of the prevalence of mental disorders among incarcerated populations, understand systemic barriers to care, and explore evidence-based and trauma-informed approaches to treatment and rehabilitation.
